Interview with writer Douglas H. Melloy

Writer Douglas H. Melloy joins me today to talk about spirituality, conscious awareness, psychology, and self help through his new book, Opening to the Realness of God: A Manual for Being Human, The Time is Now for a New Understanding.

Welcome, Douglas. Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
Became conscious at age five. At age ten decided to resolve anger as an issue. This took 36 years to accomplish at age 46. At age 12 knew I would be a teacher for humanity. At age 18 began meditating. Have studied four forms of martial arts. Have a black belt. Am also a world class musician. Began writing in 1980. Use to write aphorisms, then poetry, then prose. I am wine connoisseur. Have studied extensively. 9 books in print, 18 books written, 7 books in the works. I have moved 63 times and have lived in 6 states. This book is fourth density teaching for humanity. Went to college for two years, then went to a Ph.D. tutor for 3 ½ years. Am a graduate of Inner Bonding.

Please tell us about your current release.
Draws a distinction between God, what created us, what brought us to life, and what conquers, enslaves, and destroys. Also talks about positive and negative energy. Also defines what it is to be human, predatory, and arbitrary as a way of life. The book also talks about personal and social evolution. It explains personal and social ascension. Talks about the importance of doing personal work, meditating, serving others, and aspiring to ascend. Also explains why intuition, psychic abilities, and channeling are important to develop.

What inspired you to write this book?
Is part of my contract for being human. Plus people need this to prepare for fourth density.

Excerpt from Opening to the Realness of God:
When looking at the nature of the Self it is god to begin with issues and talents. Issues need to be resolved and talents developed. From here one is wise to be the love and know the light humanly and personally. There is also understanding how the will of God works consciously. Completing the mix is a working knowledge of God's All Encompassing-ness and the universe's infinity. We humanize all of these differing states of being and knowing. Further complicating the process is the preditor mindset of pain, fear, anger, and hatred that is antithetical to our true human ideal of joy, love, compassion, and kindness.

What exciting story are you working on next?
The next book is titled: Love and Wisdom the Art of Appropriateness. It is almost done.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
At age 13.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I work part time for a large grocery store. I used to write 8 hours a day.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I can put into language any idea. Case in point: I read once an article that stated: “Beauty that cannot be defined.” Here's my definition of beauty. Beauty is love and light given representation that reflects back to us the love and light we are so that we can see it.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Fully conscious.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
Life can be lived using only 8 words. They are God, life, humanness, and service coupled with oneness, healing, wholeness, and ascension. When combined equal: The oneness of God, healing of life, wholeness of humanness, and ascension of that which serves. These are the only words one needs to work with because they include everything. My writings focus on 3 things. They are knowing the Self according to its Design, serving others as the positive path, and intending to collectively ascend. Negative energy is ending as our planetary base. It is imperative people become positive as the life so lived.

Thank you for your interest in my work.

Interview with self-help, spirituality, and humor author Sally Naylor

Revised Banner (1)

book cover
I have an interview today with educator, counselor, and poet, Sally Naylor as she celebrates the release of her second book Rogue Nirvana -- Beyond Woo-Woo: Create the Life You Love. If you’ve ever wondered if this is all there is or wondered what’s missing in your life’s journey, this book offers a comedic yet laser-focused excursion into how societal norms, self-help, and new age spirituality do not often offer you relief. After battles with chronic fatigue, cancer, and widowhood, Naylor sought, synthesize, and now shares in this field guide, her belief that you too can construct your own personal Nirvana.

About the Author
sally naylor1
Sally Naylor, daughter of a highly decorated WWII combat veteran, FBI agent, and lawyer, and a sweet, stay-at-home, religious, southern belle mother, roamed the world growing up as an “Air Force Brat”. This gypsy was raised with and confused by both the sword and the cross. A series of crises later in life: chronic fatigue, widowhood, breast cancer, in addition to a new love affair, motivated her to engage in this rogue romp to Nirvana as she sorts through the impossible expectations of her conventional middle class upbringing.

And yes, she did attain her own Nirvana but in an unexpected & bizarre manner. Before she set aside societal conditioning and its inherent promise of Nirvana, Naylor negotiated and ultimately thrived as an independent school English teacher and curriculum developer. Naylor’s students have had their work featured in many publications and have won numerous writing awards. In addition to teaching creative writing she served as an in-school counselor where she initiated student peer-to-peer counseling, mediation and AIDS Ed training programs. As a creative writing teacher and blogger she shares her expertise on her own aptly named web site: Writing Rogue. She also enjoys life coaching, speaking, and facilitating workshops.

Welcome, Sally. Please tell us about your current release.
Naylor’s insightful eye for the absurd and her keen sense of humor explore the detours, dead ends, and fallacies on the road to nirvana.

Breaking new literary ground, Naylor combines poetry and prose as she weaves a story of the paradoxes and frustrations that the imperatives of family, religion, the educational establishment, and society proffer: the myth that if you only “try harder” or “are good,” Nirvana awaits.

Tag along on Sally Naylor’s double-pronged journey into both new age spirituality and the mandates of conventional wisdom. Through her laser focus and deeply insightful humor, you’ll discover where you fit on the Woo-Woo to skeptic’s continuum. Whatever your position, this book will touch you, all of you: from the conventional to the seeker, from the artist to the pragmatist, whether bleeding heart, cynic, Pollyanna or atheist; rest assured, the inspiration for your own Nirvana lies within this book.

What inspired you to write this book?
I wanted some fun and to share my experience with others, for at what point in your own life did you realize that the teachings of your family, school, religion and community will not guarantee the Nirvana they promised for following the rules. At what point did you realize that if you are to attain your Nirvana it will be a do-it-yourself project?

What exciting story are you working on next?
Next high priority is a book titled The Estrogen Paradox, then two poetry books, a creative writing text and a pragmatic series of collaborative essays detailing processes that clear emotional and mental density which the author developed with five partners titled, Rogue’s Release.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
About seven but I didn’t get serious til I was 47.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
My writing, editing & coach projects constitute full time work, but my hours vary. I avoid routines. Writing finds me, like breathing. It’s virtually reflexive.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
My love of the quirky and desire to showcase and revel in it.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
The wife of a judge, politician or professor. Hate to admit it, but there it is.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
Rogue Nirvana and Firebird are both available on Amazon, Check out review on Kirkus.

Thanks for being here today, Sally!

Interview with life coach Dr. Donna Lee

Today's guest, Dr. Donna Lee, is doing a virtual book tour for her new book The Spirituality Trap.

Welcome, Donna, please tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a professional intuitive life coach with more than eleven years’ experience. I graduated from Chiropractic school twelve years ago. Once I graduated, I realized that the body can’t heal or hold a spinal adjustment if the mind is not healthy. This discovery caused me to not pursue a chiropractic career. Instead, I chose to become a spiritual intuitive life coach and a mind body practitioner. I am a natural born intuitive and medium.

I learned so much about how human behavior affects our health by coaching thousands of clients. As I continued my practice as a coach, I learned that the only person who can get in our way is our self. We must be willing to have an honest relationship with our self and be willing to forgive and heal whatever pain or beliefs that are blocking us from becoming who we are meant to be. My professional life is dedicated to teaching clients how to stop blocking their happiness. My professional life is dedicated to helping people to learn how to get out of their own way.

Please tell us about your current release and what inspired you to write it.
I wrote The Spirituality Trap because I have had so many clients who feel that in order to be happy that they must not like who they are presently. I have seen so many people become angry and disappointed in their self because they started to look at themselves and the world in a right or wrong fashion. The way that I wrote my book was to reveal our behaviors that do not serve us. Then I stressed that having compassion for our self and others is a more helpful path to happiness. My goal was to liberate a person from non-working behavior such as judgment.

Excerpt:
Compassion for ourselves is about allowing ourselves to feel our emotional pain then validate it so that we can make peace with past issues that have caused us pain. The sad part is that many people try to push down their emotions so that they won’t appear weak. A lot of people try to put issues that hurt them somewhere in the back of their head so that they won’t have to feel those emotions. It does not work. It actually results in more anger and a lack of compassion for our self when we do not acknowledge that we have emotional issues that have affected our happiness.

What exciting book project are you working on next?
My next book will be about relationships. My clients have been asking me to write about relationships. There are so many relationship books on the market which made me want to stay away from writing such a book. I figured that everything that needs to be said about relationships has been written. Then my intuition was pushing me to write a relationship book. It will be called “Dating while wounded, how to let get out of your way of receiving the love that you want and deserve. “I am basing the book on the common issues that my female clients have. It is a book for women. The goal is to teach self-healing through self-awareness. I am now excited for this book. I plan to have it ready to self-publish by the end of August.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I did not consider myself a writer until I self-published my book. I see myself more as a messenger of self-help tools versus a writer. I feel that I am able to write only because of my coaching experience. I wish that I could write a novel or a screen play. I do feel that everyone is capable of writing as long as they write their truth and learn to be creative too. I am a part time writer. I love writing because I love sharing the information that I am learning through coaching. My clients are my greatest teachers. They remind me to stay present with the truth of life.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
My writing quirk is that I always start off with a unique story that has happened to me or a general experience that occurred while coaching clients. I love to tell odd stories that will help me to motive the reader to wonder why I wrote about the story that I chose. Then I follow it up with an explanation I like to bring reality to my writing through life experiences. I want to remind readers that I am writing from personal experience.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was a child, I wanted to be a medical doctor because I felt that it was the best way to be of service to people. I always had viewed medical doctors as healing the sick. I had positive experiences with doctors. I admired them for being smart enough to help people get well. As I grew up, I learned that there are many ways to help people. I leaned towards more natural approaches as I went through school. I enjoy talk therapy because it gives the client a chance to have a moment of awareness through their own words. Writing became an addition to my work as a professional coach.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
The one message that I would want to share with readers is that we are all such powerful people. We should not divide a person into categories that devalues them as people with a purpose. Everyone has a purpose. Our beliefs about our self do determine what we create in our life. Our beliefs inspire our actions which creates an outcome. Never devalue yourself because your world will reflect a life of no value. Always think the best thoughts about yourself but first heal whatever beliefs that are holding you back from being everything that you deserve to be.

Thanks for stopping by, Donna!

Interview with memoirist Deidre Havrelock

Today's guest is memoirist Deidre Havrelock.

If you’re a fan of supernatural fiction then you will be captivated by this true story about a spiritually sensitive girl and the path that led to her possession. Part one of a two-part series, Saving Mary is the story of a modern-day Mary Magdalene—the woman from whom Jesus cast out seven demons.

Deidre Daily is drawn to anything seemingly spiritual, desperately seeking a spiritual existence. But inside this vibrant girl hides a terrified child who sincerely believes she has married the devil. Through a series of spiritual encounters her fear turns into reality, and she ends up possessed.

Deidre’s fascinating memoir relays her story from childhood to adolescence: invisible eyes leering at her from the corner of her bedroom, horrible nightmares tormenting her, and her desperate attempt to find God—only to end up possessed. It is a candid account of possession from a first-person perspective. This dark memoir brings to light an intricate world of deceitful spirits hell-bent on manipulating and damaging an innocent girl’s life, not only through her dreams, but also through seemingly every-day encounters.

Bio:
Deidre D Havrelock grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where she eventually met her husband to be, DJ. It was DJ who initially noticed Deidre’s dark state and worked to seek out someone willing to perform her exorcism. Eventually, the newlyweds found their way to the southern hot spot of Brooks, AB where Deidre began writing. From there the family trekked across eastern Canada to Moncton, NB where they learned to love French fries with cheese curds and gravy.

Currently nestled in the hills of Kennewick, Washington, Deidre has two horses, one dog, three cats and too many rabbits…and let’s not forget her wonderful husband and three energetic daughters. Her memoir, Saving Mary: The Possession chronicles her dark childhood and the path that led to her demonic possession. She is currently working to finish book two of her spiritual memoir, Saving Mary: The Deliverance.

How did you come up with the title of your book?
I called my book Saving Mary because just after my exorcism my boyfriend convinced me to go to a Bible study. I had already decided I would keep my possession and exorcism a secret. (It seemed all just a bit too strange to talk about.) During the Bible study, however, BAM! A woman caught me off guard. She came up to me at the end of the study and told me that God spoke to her. “God told me to tell you that you remind him of Mary Magdalene—the woman from whom Jesus cast out seven demons.” It seemed that I wanted to keep my life a secret, but God didn’t get my memo!  I didn’t go to another Bible study for over a year. Those prophetic people, you can always count on them to spice things up.

Give us a glimpse into a typical day in your day starting when you wake up till you lie down again.
My day is pretty boring. I get up and pray…I make coffee. I then crawl back into bed and either read a book or answer emails. At that point my husband leaves for work. Then I wake the kids up and get them some breakfast: yogurt, cereal and fruit. I then read some more or answer emails. I then tell my kids to get dressed. I then make lunches. (Bored yet?) I get a fresh coffee and read or answer emails. I then remind my kids to brush their teeth, and then I get the kids out the door so they can catch their rides to school. I then jump in the shower and then I work. Work entails: reading, answering emails, writing, editing, marketing, blogging, filing, sending out queries. (Sometimes my friend Lori Skypes me!) I do this for the next five hours then I jump in my car and rush to begin the cycle of picking up kids and getting them to soccer, basketball or softball. When I get home, I feed everyone some kind of food I’ve managed to scrape together. Then me and my hubby go for a walk and talk about going on vacation to Greece. This is where I am right now in my life. I love being with my family. Although, it would be great if I could do less driving.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I’m working to finish part two of Saving MaryThe Deliverance. The story of how I became unpossessed. I am also working to edit a book about the femininity of the Holy Spirit, The MotherHeart of God: Biblical Evidence for the Femininity of the Holy Spirit.

What inspired you to want to become a writer?
My imagination, plus my mom read a lot. At a young age I wanted to write something for her to read, so I wrote The Bloody Dagger in grade three. I’m sure my story of a guy who hides in the shadows and chops up people impressed her. I know it impressed my teacher, Mrs. Whalen, who asked, “Don’t you have any happy thoughts?”

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Oh gosh, my quirk is that I write in bed. I sometimes get my laptop and stay in bed for hours! My husband calls it my office.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
I wanted to be a writer and then a lawyer and then I just wanted to party (I sort of lost focus). I used to pray, “Dear God, pleeeeease make me good at just one thing.” I always felt I was exceptionally good at nothing—probably like most of us, I suspect. My husband calls this “The Gift of Insignificant helps.”

Excerpt:
Chapter Four
Curses

Me and Kelly, we make plans for sleepovers all the time. We don’t ever sleep at my house. We sleep at her house. I sleep over at Kelly’s a lot ‘cause I know there’s no little eyes or ghosts creepin’ around at her house.
At Kelly’s house we play in her playhouse. We sit on neatly stacked bricks, pretending they’re chairs. She’s writing the rules for our new club. I’m colorin’ the membership cards, tellin’ her about the little eyes in my house. She calls me a freak. I then decide to tell her about a dream I had. The one she was in.
“It’s dark outside. And quiet. The leaves in the trees aren’t moving, that ugly ol’ Fort Road is empty and the street lights—they’re dim. Only the moon gives light. It all looks like one of those old pictures, you know, shadowy and still. The only sound comes from Angie’s shiny black tap shoes as she moves down the sidewalk. They’re all, clippity-clop, clippity-clop, CLIPpITY-CLOP, clippity-clop ’cause of the echo. Angie isn’t dancing though. She’s just walking, wishin’ her shoes would shut up. We’re all wishin’ her stupid shoes would shut up. You turn to Angie with your eyebrows pointing to your nose. The way you do when you’re mad … ”
I tell Kelly about the church and about the robbers and about how she hid and how I didn’t hide very good. She says, “That figures.” And we laugh. Then I say how I was pulled to the altar, how I was made to get married and how I was kicking and screamin’.
“But nobody even cared,” I say. I take a yellow crayon, start colorin’ a picture of a bee. Then I tell her how I pulled the robber’s mask off.
“It’s hanging from my hand, his mask. And I don’t know what to do now, and I’m wishin’ I hadn’t done it at all. I look around for you, hoping you might come out from hiding, but you don’t.”
“What’s he look like?” asks Kelly.
“He’s cute,” I say. “With short brown hair. He smiles at me, shaking his head a little like he’s saying, ‘You know, you shouldn’t have done that’—pulled his mask off he means. He feels weird.”
“Weird?”
“Yeah,” I go.  “Weird. Nothin’ about him feels right. He’s all wrong. And he’s got these black eyes that look and pull all at the same time, so I wanna run away but I can’t.”
“So what do you do?”
“I smile, just a little, to say sorry. But I don’t think he cares ’cause he doesn’t smile back. Then I spy around for you. I’m still hoping you might come out and do somethin’. That’s when he starts laughing.”
“Why’s he laughing?”
“’Cause he knows you aren’t coming, and even if someone did come—it’s too late. We’re already married. He laughs harder and harder ’til the laughing changes him.”
“Changes him?”
“Yeah, his hair—it starts going all creepy. It’s red now.”
“What’s creepy about red?”
So I tell her how his hair’s turned into red-hot flames. How he’s laughing with his head tilted back. His hair swishin’ and glowin’, all on fire.
“Does he do anything else?”
“He smiles at me—big, really big.”
“Why?”
“‘Cause he knows I’m scared and he thinks it’s funny. Then his face also starts changing. Like it’s made of Play-Doh.”
“Play-Doh?”
“Yeah, like when he smiles the smile changes. It keeps twistin’ itself up all screwy-like.”
“That’s more like Silly Putty,” says Kelly.
“Sure,” I say, “like Silly Putty.”
“Man, I wouldn’t’ve hid. I woulda beat the crap outta him.”

“I know you woulda.”

“Geez, Dede.  You married the Devil.”

I nod. “I know,” I whisper. Then I say, “Kelly, can you divorce the Devil?”

“Don’t know,” says Kelly. “I guess you’d hafta find God for that.”
I put down the yellow crayon, pick up a black one and write ‘Busy Bee Club’ at the top of the membership card. I’ve got a heaviness on me now. Like when something’s gone wrong and it’s got to be made right. Just then Kelly goes, whack! hitting me right in the shoulder; she tells me to get up.
“Let’s walk to your house, so you can get some clothes for the sleepover,” she says. Down the alley we go where two big kids stop us and ask if we want a knuckle sandwich. Kelly pulls her eyebrows down, says, “No!”
I say, “Yes.”
They punch Kelly in the face.

Thanks for stopping by today, Deidre.

Interview with inspirational writer David Knight

David Knight is just starting a virtual blog tour with VBT Cafe for his book, I Am I, and Reviews and Interviews is his first official stop. Check out his other tour stops and dates.

Bio:
David Knight was born into his current physical embodiment in 1964. He is married to Caroline and they live with their adopted cats Toby, Treacle, Spiky, and Missy in the UK. In growing up he describes himself as a Mr. Average or like a 'Joe Bloggs'. Whilst earning a living in various types of work, (this ranged from HM Forces, Financial Services, a Care Assistant and also self-employment) his search for fulfilment changed from the exterior and without to the interior and within.

Spiritual education gained a greater momentum and at the age of 21 a more urgent sense of dedication as well as a new realization had set in. New evidence of and from God, were soon revealed through his life experiences. With the aid of Spirit guides and beings from the ethereal planes, the foundations were laid for all who wished to develop and experience their Hearts flame of love and light and to embark upon a unique opportunity for all soul's in this lifetime.

Welcome, David, please tell us about your current release.
Hi Lisa, I Am I: The In-Dweller of Your Heart is a book that I hope people can use as a reference and guide to lean upon and utilize throughout their lives. All life and love should actually be simplicity itself and yet we –as human beings- complicate them both so much by listening more to our minds and desires through our senses… rather than our own truth in our hearts.

So, over a period of time I felt humbly blessed to receive 52 Inner-dictations- as such they were lessons and messages containing spiritual guidance and education from my own heart’s connection to God, (the source, Spirit, or whichever name feels true to each person) so that all can understand their true purpose and goal of their soul. No matter what color, race, or whatever faith or religion one currently follows one can actually realize that Love is everything and everything is love. The book encourages each and every single person to find their own truth through their own heart where bliss, peace love and light reign supreme.

Here is the synopsis:

I Am I: The In-Dweller of Your Heart is a stepping stone for all who embark upon their own quest for ‘Spiritual’ education and guidance. Even if you are comfortable with your own faith and religion, it can help you to explore new interpretations and issues on a personal or global scale.

David Knight has received and transcribed these passages of text in a process known as ‘Inner Dictation’. He describes this as writing from within the connection of his heart where peace, bliss, love, and light reign supreme.

God’s wisdom and teachings are laid out before you so you can simply choose and read whenever or whatever your heart needs or desires. I Am I entrusts that you will dip your toes into these guidelines, principles and simple directions, then dive headfirst into the waters of your own Divine essence.

These books will form the threads of life’s new tapestry, each spun into 52 lessons from, to and through our own hearts and souls. They are like a father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, partner or personal friend who knows you better than you can ever know ‘yourself’.

What inspired you to write this book?
Over the years, many strange and wonderful things happened to me both physically and also in dream state and meditation. When I first started to ‘open’ up my heart, a lot of psychic experiences occurred…including many pre-cognitions (foreseeing future events) and proof of life after death. As such and through my own faith, I had the inbuilt need to want to help guide people upon their own journey. Over time, spiritual gifts started to materialize in my life such as healing, clairaudience and the ability to write through channeling and inner dictation. Once I started putting pen to paper I knew that I would eventually put 7 books together…to help guide, heal and shine the light for many others to see their own truth ‘within’

What exciting story are you working on next?
Well, the sequel to I Am I: The In-Dweller of the Heart is three quarters complete…after which the may be a third to make it a trilogy. I also would like to complete a compilation of many poems and inspirational / spiritual text to form a smaller book called A Pocket Full of God. Eventually I’ll put together the collection of my dreams / visions into ‘The Pre-Cognition Files’. So the next few years will be very busy!

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Some may state that you’re not a writer unless you’re being paid for it... as if remuneration somehow confirms the status of being a ‘professional writer’ as such. Others will state too that if one writes a novella, that it’s not a real book unless it has over 200-250 pages. Everything is just opinions and so for me it’s what you feel inside that actually counts. Primarily you must write for yourself…exterior success (or lack of it) is secondary.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Mmmm…I guess it’s the symbolism in the text. Many people comment about how the description and guidance of say nature, images, scenarios, and scenes reflect upon ones own feelings which then mirrors ad shines the truth to each individual.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Crikey, interesting question. I could put a twist on that and say…. Happy! LOL Ha ha

I think when I was really small I wanted to be a pilot. Perhaps that really was a dream as I am not much bigger than a hobbit and am not too great with heights ha ha.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
Yes, please…just want to say thanks for taking the time to read the interview. A lot of times in life we often judge things and their worth by how much something costs. Again it’s that ‘monkey’ mind of ours dictating and implying that you can only see the future from judging the past. Whether you buy this book or any other, whatever experience comes into your life … if it resonates within your heart let it flow to, through, and from you.

Many thanks, Lisa.

You're welcome, David. Thanks for being here to talk about your book and your writing a little bit.
