Welcome, Evelyn. Please tell us about your current release.

Event Horizon is the second book in the Theo Bourne Series. In this book it really solidifies Theo and Carlos’s relationship. When I set out to write it I wanted to write an epic adventure, something that exploded with action, but also showed the struggle that Theo was going through grappling with his newfound feelings. I originally had planned an entirely different ending for it, but somehow the story had shaped itself into something else. Theo is a complex character, one constantly divided by his need to save the world but always feeling like the demon. He’s an anti-hero to the end.

Eztli is my antagonist and when I designed her I wanted to bring vampires back to their heritage. I wanted them to be something out of a nightmare. So when I brought them into Theo’s world, I wasn’t going to settle for docile sparkly looking emos. Eztli is the epitome of bat-shit-crazy. If I met her in real life I’d run away screaming.

What inspired you to write this book?

This one was inspired by a mix of a few things. Music was a heavy influence. But I was also inspired by Aztec mythology, Hideaki Sena, and Christianity. One big thing I like to input in my novels is a belief in God. So Theo has a strong faith (even if he doesn’t always seem like it) and it’s that faith that always comes in to play.

What exciting story are you working on next?

A few things. My next story to come out (due out in December) is a LGBT contemporary called Stay With Me. It’s about an alcoholic artist haunted by his past and a bartender that just can’t walk away. That story was an emotional rollercoaster and I’m so excited for it.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

I’ve always been a writer. It’s just who I am. I’ve always created stories, even when I was a child. The difference between then and now is that I’m a PUBLISHED writer.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like?  If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?

Right now I’m not writing full-time like I’d like to so I write in the evenings. Like any author would tell you, It isn’t about finding time but making time. There isn’t a point in the day that I’m not in some way thinking about my stories or working on it. But at night I make sure I sit down and stay in front of the computer for a few hours to get writing done. That might mean I have late nights, but it’s the sacrifice I’m willing to make.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I’m so anal about plotting. I’m always outlining and re-outlining. It’s the only way I can keep my stories straight. Otherwise I’d never be able to keep my thoughts organized. I also don’t read anything I write until I finish it. That way I can get everything out and then go back and edit it.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An art teacher. Yeah I thought about writing but at the time I wanted to be an art teacher. But then I decided that I did not want to deal with screaming kids. It wasn’t until after a failed college attempt that I realized writing was my career path. Who knew I could turn my obsession into profit?

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?

It’s always possible, whether it’s dreaming, living or a zombie apocalypse.

Welcome, Sara. Please tell us about your current release.

Chasing Sin is a contemporary erotic romance ménage (m/m/f) about three friends who chase storms. So far, that’s the thing people find most surprising – that I could combine storm chasing and erotic romance. I say how can I not? Snyder and Tripp have been together for around nine years, and they’ve been chasing storms in Tornado Alley with Kate for five. After a particularly dangerous chase that could have very easily turned fatal, they decide they aren’t going to wait any longer to tell Kate how they really feel about her. Sure, she’s reluctant but she does give in.

What inspired you to write this book?

Storm chasing, and weather in general, is something that I’ve always been fascinated by. I live on the East Coast, so hurricanes are a reality for me (I’ve been through…a lot of them—mostly Cat 1 and 2 strength). In addition to being fascinated with love stories, I love writing high-energy, high-action stories. Storm chasing seemed like a perfect avenue for just that thing.

Excerpt:

“We’re looking at a direct hit. Almost as if we had a great big target on my roof.” Sometimes it was all about knowing your gut and he’d bet anything those instincts drove her forecast. Kate sighed heavily as she pushed away from the table. “Though I don’t think it’s going to strengthen any more. Unless I’m wrong about that too.”

Doubt was a natural part of this business and he’d seen her have it enough to know she didn’t truly believe she’d made an error. “Should I remind you that after five years of chasing together you’ve never been wrong?”

Her eyes cut to the computer. “I think in this case I wish I was.”

“Wish you were what?” Tripp’s voice, still thick with sleep, sounded behind Snyder. He pressed a quick kiss to the back of Snyder’s neck as he passed, and Snyder took a moment to admire the way his ass moved under the towel he’d slung around his hips. “Got any coffee?”

“Third cabinet on the left. Top shelf.”

Snyder watched Kate’s focus return to the laptop but he’d seen something that caused him to smile. It had been subtle, and if he hadn’t been watching her, he would have missed it completely.

But seen it he had.

That faint shimmer of those strong eyes, the flash of red on her cheeks when Tripp came up behind him and kissed his neck, was hard to simply ignore. Whatever reason had driven her out of the hotel room that night hadn’t been because of the lack of desire. The brief flare had been enough to tell him she wanted them both still.

Lucky for them, sitting around waiting for this monster to get here at the end of the week left him plenty of time to get to the bottom of things. One of the few times he was certainly going to appreciate the downtime.

What exciting story are you working on next?

I have a few projects going on at the moment, most notably a follow up to one of my other m/m/f books (this one a BDSM title) Ragged Edge. Before we even finished up with edits for it last year, my editor was already asking for another book set in the same world/club. Luckily, one of the secondary characters in Ragged Edge was already talking up a storm. Adam is pretty unique, so I’m looking forward to getting to tell his story.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

When I found I couldn’t stop writing. I’d try to step away from a story because I thought I was done and kept thinking about it almost constantly. It still happens on occasion—I get so caught up in the story I just want to sit down and get as much out as I can so I don’t forget it all.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like?  If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?

I still have a desk job I enjoy (marine designer—which isn’t as boring as it sounds but it’s not as exciting as storm chasing, that’s for certain), so I have to balance it and family in order to have time to write. Sometimes it’s a complicated dance, but really it’s just a matter of juggling things in order to make it work. Luckily my family understands and my weekends are usually spent in my home office working on whatever story. About ten years ago, I always complained I never had the time to write. And then I realized, if it’s something I want to do—I had to make the time. I think that’s still true to this day. Something always has to give; you just have to decide what.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I still write in spiral notebooks. That’s right, everyone else is sitting around Starbucks with their laptops and there’s me with pen and paper. It’s a rare occasion where I will write an entire book directly on the computer. Most of the time, a good chunk of it is scribbled on out a notebook that gets carried everywhere with me (no need to worry about battery life or finding an outlet!). I have a bin in my office where I keep those notebooks when I’ve completed a story too. Why yes, I am a packrat. LOL

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Oh let’s see – a crossing guard, a drafter, a police officer, an astronaut, a firewoman and a mom. Yup, I didn’t just want to be one of those things—I wanted it all. Greediness aside, I did become two of those things. A mom and a designer (they don’t call us drafters anymore).

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?

I just completed my first 5K in May. I’m still wondering what sort of crazy took over my head the day I signed up.

Educating Ethan is a sensual romance novella, and my first release with Breathless Press. It is an older woman/younger man love story, but I wanted to twist the classic cougar tale a little to allow other issues to come to the fore, and in the end I hope that Ida and Ethan's story becomes more about two people falling in love and trying to deal with the emotional baggage that we all bring to a new relationship. Regardless of our age.

Here is the book blurb: Ida Deloraine intends to build herself a new life and a catering career, after a painful divorce. When the much younger Ethan Holt moves in across the street, an innocent flirtation quickly becomes serious when the two realise their age difference is no barrier to all-consuming passion. But Ethan is the exact opposite of what Ida is looking for in a sexual partner. In her eyes he is young and vibrant, with his life and his dreams still ahead of him, whereas hers are all in the past. What inspired you to write this book?
I'm a woman in my forties, and in the past couple of years I've read a spate of romances that contain a young heroine and an older man. While most of these have been extremely well-written and enjoyable, I haven't necessarily connected with them on a personal level, and the last two stories I've written have been about a slightly older heroine – first Jeannie and her husband Jake in Platinum Passion (a ménage romance in which a Greek god visits a long-married couple to reignite the passion in their relationship) and now Educating Ethan, in which an older woman has a second chance at happiness with a much younger man.

What exciting story are you working on next?
I'm currently working on Books 2 and 3 in the Gods of Love series that began with Platinum Passion. This series, about the Greek gods of love known as the erotes, is more erotic in tone than Educating Ethan, but I try and balance an emotional connection with the physical one no matter what heat level I write, so the end result is still a romance and not erotica. Book 2 – Aphrodite Calling – is about Himeros (god of sexual desire) and his interactions with a career woman in modern-day Melbourne, Australia. Book 3 is about Anteros (god of requited/unrequited love) and is tentatively titled, Sex Club Secrets.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I've always written, ever since I was little, but it wasn't until I was at university and someone dared me to write a "Mills & Boon" that I began to look at writing more seriously. I took the dare and wrote/submitted my first manuscript. Of course it was rejected, but with very positive feedback about my unique writing voice. I joined the then fledgling organisation Romance Writers of Australia and devoured their newsletter every month, but really just dabbled in writing as a hobby until after my divorce. At that time I was finally in a mindset where I felt it might be possible to reach for my dreams, so I rewrote an erotic romance called Seducing Serena and submitted it to Red Sage. They bought it for their Secrets anthology (Volume 28), and it was when I got that trade paperback copy of Volume 28 in my hand that I finally felt like a "real" writer.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I would love to write full-time, but it is not financially viable at this stage. Up until recently I was a single working mum, so most of my time was spent either in my part-time day job in medical admin, or running my teenage girls around to their various school, part-time work, social and exercise activities. It is exhausting being a parent of teenagers! I also ran an internet costume business on the side, and my writing was mostly done between midnight and 1am. I kid you not! A year ago we moved in with my partner and his son, and these days, even though life seems just as busy, it is much nicer with someone to share the decision-making and driving! The costume business is history now, too, so there is definitely more writing time these days.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I don't know if I have an interesting writing quirk. I just write. Um, well…I know a lot of writers like to listen to music to evoke a particular mood when they write, but I love to hear the ticking of our clock in the kitchen – it is loud and everyone else in the house hates it! – but if I can hear the clock I know the house is most probably empty for a little while, and that means I have some peace and quiet in which to write. I love peace and quiet – it is so rare in a house full of teenagers. Does that count as a quirk? (yes, it does!)

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Well, let's see, at first I wanted to be just like Nadia Comăneci (remember the Romanian gymnast with the perfect 10 score?), then a famous and glamorous tennis player (Chris Evert was at her prime around then!). I graduated to wanting to be a vet, then for a short while in my teens I wanted to be a private secretary so I could marry a millionaire boss like they did in the romance novels I was reading at the time! Impressionable, much? I'm blushing right now! When I finally grew up, I decided I wanted to be either an artist, or a journalist and work in PR. The writing won over the art, and I worked in PR and marketing for many years, before moving into admin and working as an author in my spare time.

Today I get to host my first Honey Bee Promotions author. Elaine Lowe is here to talk about romance, writing, and itchy fingers.

Bio:
Elaine Lowe is a work-at-home mom in Silicon Valley, California. Of her many part-time jobs, her favorite one by far is writing. She has a background in biotech, but she has branched out into the demanding world of home management, toddler entertainment, transcription, envelope stuffing, and of course, writing romantic and erotic fiction.

A love of history, magic and romance combines to inspire a lot of her writing. That and her wonderful husband, who is a fantastic sounding board, support system, and research consultant. He really enjoys research. And so does she.

Elaine, please tell us about your current book release.
Magic Eights is about fulfilling the wild fantasies of a happy but slightly frustrated wife. Susanna makes an idle wish to a Magic Eight ball she receives from a good friend, who happens to style herself as a witch. That wish results in not just one, but seven different copies of her husband being created, each with a purpose to accomplish! It’s a sexy romp, but it’s also a loving story of two people in love who still have insecurities and secrets and find deep fulfilment in rediscovering each other and opening up completely. This is a contemporary paranormal, a highly erotic romance and a quick fun read that I had a ball writing.

What inspired you to write this book?
I was in the middle of writing a completely different book, a historical set in Hawaii that I am still plugging away on, when this insistently horny wife popped into my mind’s eye while I should have been refining my chapter outlines. Susanna was lying in her bathtub, holding a prognosticating Magic Eight ball, and asking it ridiculously erotic questions involving activities to try with her workaholic husband. Well, she would not leave me alone, and so in very short order her story came out as Magic Eights.

It’s a fun, steamy romp for me, different then a lot of my books. Most of my books are historicals with lots and lots of heavily researched plot. This is sex, sex, and more sweet, hot sex. It’s the magic-enhanced dream world of a happily married couple, and it was so much fun to write.

Susanna has finally left me alone, but her friend Esme is bugging me now. She’s the witch who gave Susanna that enchanted Magic Eight ball as an anniversary present, and now she wants her own story told. I have a feeling that my Hawaiian epic is going to get interrupted again!

What exciting story are you working on next?
I usually have several manuscripts I’m working on at any one time. I’ve just finished another book in the Magic Eights world, but this one much more steeped in magic, with more of an urban fantasy vibe. And I’m working on Esme Morgan’s story and her Fae suitor. And, of course, there’s that Hawaiian cowboy story!

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I think I really first thought of myself as a writer the day I was finishing one book, editing another, and doing promotion for a new release, all at the same time. Juggling three completely different stories at the same time made me realize I had created all these worlds, and people wanted to read them! It was exhilarating.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I wish I could write full-time, but alas I’m a mom to a special needs child, and I work several part time, at-home jobs. Writing is my fun time, and my escape! I worry that if I was ever so lucky as to be able to write full-time, it would become work instead of the joy that it is now.
Still, I wouldn’t mind trying! And I don’t see myself as ever giving it up. I have to write, my fingers itch otherwise.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I really like to switch perspectives and try to give an equal voice to both partners in a relationship. There are only a few of my books which are completely from a single point of view. I love books where you get both sides of the story, so that’s what I write as well.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
It varied. I wanted to be an astronaut, a country singer, a pilot, or a travel writer. At least I got the writer part!

Tory, welcome to Reviews and Interviews. Please tell us a bit about yourself.
I'm a fifty-something author who discovered my passion for writing and story telling at the ripe old age of ten. Before I received my first manual typewriter, with pencil in hand, I would jot my stories down on notebook paper. Later, after receiving that desired typewriter, I spent hours in my bedroom, where my parents thought I was doing homework.
I also hold down a full time day job. So basically I'm working all the time. Only writing is a hobby for me, something I do during the quiet of the evenings and on my weekends. My goals are simple and realistic. By the time I retire I'll be happy if I'm just making enough "mad money" from it to be able to travel a little, and spoil my grandchildren.

I collect antiques and art, and I love chocolate, who doesn't? And I'm addicted to good coffee and sweet ice tea. McDonald's hazelnut iced coffee has been on my favorite list for quite some time.

For a while life got in the way of my dreams. A few years ago I decided to get serious and haven't looked back!

Please tell us about your current release.
The Promise is a story about marine returning home for the holidays for the first time in years, and his brother’s young widow. A woman he’s secretly in love with. Being under the same roof together soon proves their attraction to one another is too hard to resist, and the promise each made to the same man is what binds them together.

What inspired you to write this book?
This is always a hard question to answer for me. I don’t know that I would say I was inspired to write it. It was just an idea that popped inside my head one day. Something I’ve always wanted to do but haven’t is invite someone serving our country over for a holiday meal. That thought might have had something to do with it.

What exciting story are you working on next?
While I have several works in progress I’m trying to finish up another erotic romance right now. It’s the story of a plus-size model, and the bodyguard hired to protect her from a possible serial killer.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
When I was about ten and began penning short stories on note book paper.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
Writing is a hobby for me. It’s my passion, and something I do for me. I write when I’m in the mood, and yes, I do work a full time day job. So most of my writing takes place in the evenings and during the weekends.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Hummm…that’s a good question. Let me think about it and get back to you. :)

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Are you kidding? I wanted to be a writer of course! I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t have a story floating around inside my head and I couldn’t wait to get it down on paper. Even though I wrote for me, and I considered it a kind of therapy, I still dreamed about becoming an author when I grew up.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
I love hearing from readers, whether it’s an email or on my blog. Some of the best reviews I’ve received are from them and I appreciate the time they take to write me. So don’t be shy!

Please tell us about your current release.
Ruby Red Metallic is an erotic novelette about a woman car thief named Alaina. Alaina doesn’t steal just any car. She has her eyes set on very exclusive, high-end cars. Of course, there is one type of vehicle she has a specific passion for and when she comes across it, the owner is as hot as the car.

What inspired you to write this book?
A very close friend of mine suggested I write something about a car. His suggestion was a real challenge for me since I don’t know anything about cars except how to drive them (and fill the gas tank). But once I got all the research done I had a great time coming up with the story.

What exciting story are you working on next?
I’m working on a contemporary erotic romance about a woman that goes to an exclusive party where she has to wear wireless remote controlled vibrating panties. It’s tentatively titled Number 69.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
The first time I had something published is when I considered myself a writer. It was a short story about a courier that went up on a women’s erotica site.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I wish I could write full-time, but right now I still work a day job.
Finding time to write can be a challenge sometimes, since I work 40 to 50 hours a week at the day time dungeon and have to take care of other household responsibilities like shopping, laundry, yard work, or snow removal, etc. I write for at least 90 minutes each day during the week and for as long as I can during the weekends.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I don’t know how interesting this is, but when I sit down at my desk to write I have to have another chair set right next to me for my cat. He always finds it necessary to want to sit in my lap whenever I sit at my desk so I set up a special chair for him so he can curl up there instead of squeezing between me and the desk. He’s very happy with that situation. My mom even crocheted a little blanket to put on the seat for him to lie on. He’s not spoiled or anything.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be anything that would allow me to carry a briefcase; a secretary, a lawyer, real estate agent…anything. My mom had a friend that was a real estate agent. She always dressed nice and carried a brief case. I thought she was the coolest person on earth. I wanted to dress up and carry a brief case just like her. Now, I’m an assistant in my day job, but I don’t carry a brief case. They’re too much of a pain in the butt to lug around.

What exciting story are you working on next?
I’m working on two stories right now. One is m/f Urban Fantasy I’ve been working on for a while. It’s in the re-write stages now. The second is m/m about a Dom who falls in love with a Christian Minister.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
The day I picked up a pencil. I’ve been telling stories since grade school.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I don’t write full time. I do have a day job but it’s not an EDJ. I’m a CEO of a company I built from the ground up. I have really long days doing that, but if I get a break, I do stop to write.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
It’s actually an editing quirk. I have to have a mouse when I edit. For some reason, I can’t use a track pad. I have to have a mouse or it really messes me up.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a doctor. Which is funny, because Jamie Hunter from Trust In Me is a pediatrician.
