Interview with multi-published author Margaret Millmore

Author Margaret Millmore is here today. We’re chatting about her latest book, a supernatural thriller titled, What Haunts Me (Ghost Killer – Book 1).

Welcome, Margaret. Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a native Californian and currently live in San Francisco with my husband and two cats. I’m the author of six books (two novels, one 3 book series, and book one of a new series): Doppelganger Experiment (World Castle Publishing, September 2011; republished via Amazon Digital, January 2014), The Four Series – Book I, II and III (World Castle Publishing 2012/13, republished via Amazon Digital Services, Inc. October 2015), The Dragonfly Door (Amazon Digital Services, Inc. October 2013), and What Haunts Me (Ghost Killer – Book 1) (Amazon Digital Services, Inc., November 2014 and Creativia Publishing, December 2015).

Please tell us about your current release, What Haunts Me.
The ghosts that wander among the living do not haunt in the traditional sense; instead, they plague the innocent with disease, deformity and addiction. And once a ghost finds its victim, it will haunt them for a lifetime... or kill them quickly.

After George gets ill, the dreams begin. Suppressed memories are triggered, allowing him to see ghosts, and a deeply buried instinct emerges. George finds out he can kill these monsters, and heal their victims. The ability to save lives is something George cannot ignore, but it soon becomes an obsession and begins to eat away at his sanity.

His quest for understanding leads him to new friends and allies, and exposes him to enemies he could have never imagined. In the end, can you really ever kill something that’s already dead?

What inspired you to write this book?
My husband had a strange dream and told me about it, initially I thought it was interesting and filed it away for later review (I was working on another novel at the time and it was all consuming). However, as the months went by, the dream never left my subconscious and before I knew it was happening a story had unfolded the What Haunts Me series was born.

What exciting story are you working on next?
I’m currently working on book 2 in the series, expected release is summer 2016

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I think it was after my 2nd book was published, it felt real at that point (and I’ve published 4 more since then)

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I am very fortunate that I’m able to write full time. I usually get up around 5:30 a.m. and handle emails and such, then write for 4-8 hours, if there’s time left in the day, I work on promotional matters.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I like quiet while I write, but when writer’s block hits, I crank up the Motown music, it seems to open the mind and release the blockage.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an interior designer, but life has a way of changing things and I ended up in the commercial real estate field for almost twenty years.
