Here’s a blurb about Shattered Vows:
A mother, confronted with her husband’s infidelity, must decide whether to help raise his child or end her marriage.

Annie and Stuart Rayburn have loved each other since high school. Their life is idyllic until their baby dies of SIDS, and Annie falls into a deep depression. Months of therapy help her recover, and they look forward to another child sometime in their future.

Despite his own grief Stuart tries to comfort Annie, yet when he reaches for her in the night, his advances are rebuffed. In a moment of weakness, he turns to another woman. Stu learns his night of infidelity produced a baby girl. The mother died in a car crash, and her will gives Stu custody.

Stu can’t deny the child is his, and he’s determined to raise her. He begs Annie’s forgiveness. Hurt and angry, Annie must face her demons, decide if she can forgive Stu, and love the innocent child, or divorce him and move on without the only man she’s likely to love.

Excerpt from Shattered Vows:
The room swam. Bile rose in Annie’s throat. She stood, and weaving like a drunk she dashed down the hall to the downstairs bathroom with Stu on her heels. She slammed the door in his face and fell to her knees in front of the toilet. Heaves racked her body time and time again. Finally they stopped, and she lay down on the cool tile floor, too wrung out to even cry.

A tap sounded on the door. "Are you all right?"

"I'll be out in a minute." She pushed up from the floor, washed her face, and then rinsed her mouth with water and mouthwash.

In the living room, Stu stood in front of the window. He turned when she entered.

“How long have you known about the baby? Have you made secret trips to visit her?”

Book-related questions answered by Jennifer Kacey

Welcome to Reviews and Interviews, ladies! Please tell us about Elite Metal.
For decades the US Marines funded a top-secret unit known as Elite Recon. A deadly group of men and women sent to infiltrate dozens of countries completely undetected. Mission objectives so extreme casualties were not only probable, but expected.

The current batch of operatives had returned from hundreds of assignments unscathed…until one mission went horribly wrong. Several men lost their lives and the group disbanded. The remaining leathernecks were scattered in the wind with new identities. They were told to blend in. Be normal. Or face being forever silenced just like their fallen brothers.

Now, two years later, each living member of the group is kidnapped and given a chance to make things right. But this time they’re no longer under the thumb of Uncle Sam. A mysterious private backer who knows about their past has brought them back together. No longer are they forced to turn a blind eye to the lost and forsaken.

A new life. A new future…Elite Metal.

Blurbs from the stories in the series:
Bound By Steele
By Anna Alexander and Jennifer Kacey

To save his Marine brothers and sister he must accept the past isn’t dead and buried. Reuniting survivors means he is forced to first forgive…the enemy.

Steele, the man he was, died. A civilian with a new name stands in his place in the wake of death. Everything he had, lost when his undercover contact, Venus, disappeared when it counted most. In the shadow of regret, Steele is reborn from the flames of a Phoenix. To right the wrongs that destroyed his military family, he must put his trust in the hands of a mysterious backer, and the woman who led his team to the slaughter.

Not knowing who sold her out at the final hour, Alayna Devlin, spent the last two years on the run. Then the mastermind behind Elite Metal tracked her down, and offered her the chance to atone for past mistakes. To cleanse her conscience requires a baptism by fire and submission to the man who will either put the final nail in her coffin or set her heart free.

The past. The future. Truth. Lies. Nothing is as it seems when two shattered hearts are finally given the chance to heal.

Chrome’s Salvation
By Jennifer Kacey

No one to lean on when she’s trapped in a world she never knew existed. Lost in a world of pseudo-normalcy Chrome’s reduced to nothing more than existing. Day in. Day out. Nothing to live for.

Until his girl’s life hangs in the balance. Now nothing will stand in his way of coming back to life.

Love at first sight is a myth. Or so Chrome thought. Everything he thinks is true disappears in the presence…of his salvation.

Pure Copper
By Heather Long

Gabriel Danvers, ex-CIA analyst, is a master of disseminating the details. He wants to enjoy a normal life, retired from the game. His mission? Teach classes.

When Gabriel becomes the target of Copper’s investigation, he re-enters a world of danger and deception--all to claim the passion of the one woman who’s haunted him for years.

Sterling’s Seduction
By Sabrina York

When a snoopy reporter threatens the Elite Metal, Sterling will do whatever it takes to kill her story about the team. Even if it means he has to tie her to his bed.

Red Wolf’s sniper wants to nudge Plat’s underbelly and they’re going to find out quickly how deadly he can be.

But Platinum is reborn when Elijah is kidnapped, so he's left with no choice but to vanish, leaving Rose to wonder about his fate, broken-hearted.

Rose has spent the last year getting over the disappearance of the man she knew as Eli. Now, alone and terrified, she finds herself on the run from a sniper while trying to hide a scared little boy from certain death.

Red Wolf's crew isn't done with Plat, and his soft underbelly is just the place to nudge. Sniper vs. sniper, Platinum will reclaim what is his. That is, if she'll even have him back...

Mercury’s Poison
By Saranna DeWylde

A scarred, mad genius more monster than man must protect the beauty he's become obsessed with from a beast more terrible than himself.

Serum 17 took his face, took his kindness and took his empathy. It took, in essence, all of John Thrace leaving only the Elite Metal operative "Mercury" in his place. A man marked with a biohazard tattoo because he knows he's incompatible with other living things. Until he becomes obsessed with the seemingly innocent doctor Hazel Brewer and a chance encounter changes everything.

Hazel knows the giant scarred man won't hurt her even though she's in the business of saving lives and he'd rather take them. In fact, she's never felt safer or more alive than when she's with him. Even when a terrible biological weapon forces her into his arms for a night of hot passion she won't soon forget.

Their love could be the redemption he never thought he wanted, or something even more toxic: Mercury's poison.

Forged in Silver
By Roxie Rivera

Rebel. Nomad. Troublemaker.

After surviving the double-cross during Operation Phoenix, Former Elite Recon Marine Silver embraces the underworld and builds a new life as one of the world's most renowned thieves. Jewels, paintings, corporate espionage--there's no job he won't take for the right price.

Until Poppy Jones orders her ghosts to snatch him up in Budapest and haul him back to Texas to face her brand of justice...

Forced to decide between a prison cell and signing on to Elite Metal, Silver chooses the latter. Quietly operating in the background of a team that no longer trusts or wants him, he completes all the dirty little jobs that keep the team alive and flush with new intel.

But when he learns Poppy plans to infiltrate a terrorist gathering, he refuses to hide in the shadows a moment longer. In a world of secrets and lies, Poppy Jones is his bright light of truth and trust.

And he'll brave the fires of hell--and the disdain of Steele and Chrome--to protect her.

Jennifer, what inspired you to write this series?
A conversation with another author and we thought it would be cool to write a set together. I never in my wildest dreams thought it would turn into what it has. It’s amazing and I hope everybody loves it as much as the authors do!!

Excerpt from “Chrome’s Salvation” by Jennifer Kacey:
Unable to help himself he kept a safe distance from her and…
Nothing.
He rolled his eyes and headed off in the opposite direction of his Harley, which he was so ready to open up on the highway and blow the wistful bullshit out of his head.
Then he stopped dead in his tracks.
He was single.
She seemed single.
It wasn’t too long ago when he used to know how to actually talk to a woman to get her out of her panties, and he was pretty sure he could remember how to do that for the right person.
The chick slowly moving away from him, digging in her purse surely for her keys could definitely be the right person.
He wouldn’t know unless he actually cut the silent and deadly act and went and talked to her.
He turned on his heel, moving back toward her, and he picked up the pace to try to get to her before she got to her vehicle. The lights on an SUV blinked when she hit a button on her remote control.
The tiny prick on the back of his neck shot so much adrenaline into his system, all of his training came out in an explosion of instinct.
He swept his leg out behind him, dropping one of his attackers. But that was it. His brain kept telling his muscles to move but as if in slow motion he hit the ground.
Whatever drug pumping through his system was effective if not lethal.
Another masked man dressed all in black stepped next to him just as a van pulled up beside him.
No squealing tires. No sound at all. Pure silence surrounded him.
The door opened and two more men, dressed similarly piled out, lifting him into the confines of the unmarked vehicle. The first man grabbed his bag, which had fallen to the ground and flung it in next to him. He climbed in, shutting the door behind himself.
Chrome wanted to ask questions, he willed his mouth to move but he couldn’t get his lips, much less his vocal cords, to cooperate.
He’d had this drug before. His responses—he’d experienced them before.
His team had been chemically trained to resist the effects of most muscular paralyzers. In their line of work the government had spared no expense.
Most anyone else would have already been unconscious. But he fought just as he was trained to do.
The van moved but he couldn’t see anything but sky after they pulled out of the parking garage.
Another prick in his arm registered and he huffed out a breath. It was the only displeasure he could register before darkness sucked him under.
His eyes flicked open and closed as he tried to retain consciousness.
The crackle of a radio made its way past the fog trying to overtake him.
“Chrome secure. ETA thirteen hours.”
They found me.
Whatever torture was coming, whoever thought they could break him to get what they wanted… They were shit outta luck. He’d go to his grave before he talked. Resignation filled his mind.
He always knew his enemies would find him eventually. Or the government found someone fast enough to dispose of him.
They were quicker than he expected.
The sleeping face of the little girl, and the tear-stained eyes of the woman he’d wanted flashed in front of his eyelids.
He was glad they were the last people he’d ever see.
And no matter what was coming he’d be dead within a matter of days.
Thank God it’s finally over.
Relief settled deep inside.
Blackness seeped into his mind and for the first time, and hopefully the last …he didn’t fight it.

What exciting story are you working on next?
We might possibly be working on Book Two in the Elite Warrior series. Elite Ghosts. OMG – CANNOT WAIT!!!

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
The first time I finished a full novel which was actually the first thing I ever really wrote. It was 105K I think. You finish that big of a story, no matter how sucky the first draft is, or how much editing it takes to fix it, I say you’re a writer.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
Nope. I still have a real life day job as well that I work at 50 hrs a week. I write at night and on the weekends. Keeps me sane to say the very least. You make time for what’s important. Truly.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Can’t write a book in order. Just can’t do it.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
High Risk Obstetrician since I was in the fourth grade. Go big or go home, right?

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
Hope you love the set as much as we do! Writing it has been a huge undertaking for all of us and we can’t be more pleased with it. HUGS TO EVERYONE SUPPORTING THE SET!!! More to come!!

Book excerpt for YA historical romance Broken Dreams by Nancy Pennick

Today’s is a special book excerpt for the YA historical romance novel Broken Dreams by Nancy Pennick.

During her virtual book tour with Goddess Fish Promotions, Nancy will be awarding a lucky winner with a $20 Amazon or Barnes and Noble gift card (winner’s choice). To be entered for a chance to win, use the form below. To increase your chances of winning, feel free to visit her other tour stops and enter there, too.

Here’s a blurb about Broken Dreams:
Two friends...
Blood sisters till the end...
Until they're not.

One cold night in a boarding school dorm, two fourteen-year-old girls make a blood sister pact. Friends forever. As young schoolgirls, they're determined to find true love, learning the hits and misses along the way. As graduation nears, the girls have different outlooks for the future. Lucinda longs for adventure. Anna chooses city life and marriage. Finding their way back together, the girls head west for an experience of a lifetime until a handsome cowboy bursts into their lives, changing the course of their friendship forever.

Excerpt from Broken Dreams:

“It’s perfect.” Anna’s jaw dropped. “The whole outfit.” She pointed from the top of Lucinda’s head down to her cream Mary Jane shoes. “This is definitely the year we find you a boy.”

“Oh, no. I like to play the field.” Lucinda stuck out her tongue, looped her arm through Anna’s and marched her out the door.

“If I’m not mistaken, you had your eye on someone last year. Let’s make a blood sister pact for the year. You’re going to meet him, this mystery man. Remember, we promised to help each other make our dreams come true.” Anna wasn’t giving up. She knew Lucinda very well and wouldn’t be fooled by the distractions.

“And who is my mystery man?” Lucinda pretended she had no idea. She gave no clue to his identity last year, and Anna was determined to find out.

“Well, from what I gathered last year, his name might be Gerald?” Anna decided to test Lucinda and watch for a reaction. “Peter?” Her face remained blank. “Roy?” A slight twitch at the corners of Lucinda’s mouth gave her away. “It’s Roy. I knew we went to the library a lot more than necessary. He worked there shelving books, didn’t he?”

“You got me!” Lucinda held her hands up in defeat. “It’s hard to meet boys when we’re at one school and they’re at another, even though we’re all on one campus. A girl’s gotta do, what a girl’s gotta do. Remember that, Anna. It’s our blood sister saying like a secret handshake.”

Author Bio and Links:
Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Nancy currently resides in Mentor, Ohio with her husband and son, plus a delightfully entertaining lovebird. Book excerpt for contemporary romance novel Hearts on Fire by Alison Packard

Today’s feature is the contemporary romance novel, Hearts on Fire by Alison Packard.

During her virtual book tour with Goddess Fish Promotions, Alison will award a $10 Amazon or Barnes and Noble gift card to one randomly drawn winner. To be entered for a chance to win, use the form below. To increase your chances of winning, feel free to visit her other tour stops and enter there too.

Author bio:
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Alison now lives in Southern Nevada where she’s still getting used to the blistering summers and the slot machines in every grocery store.

When not working at the day job that pays the bills, keeps a roof over her head, and supports her book and chocolate habits, Alison spends most of her free time writing. But when she takes a break, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family and friends.

Blurb about Hearts on Fire:
Country music star Jessie Grant has it all. An amazing voice, a string of multi-platinum albums, and a sold-out concert tour. But just before her Hearts on Fire tour rolls into Las Vegas, her lead guitarist is badly injured and is unable to play. Desperate to find a replacement before the night of a televised live show, Jessie is forced to accept help from the last person on earth she wants to see again.

Drew Carmichael has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the best up-and-coming musicians in Nashville, without cashing in on his renowned father’s name. When Jessie’s manager calls and asks him to fill in for her band’s injured guitar player, he agrees to help Jessie out even though she cut him out of her life four months ago.

In Sin City, sparks fly between Jessie and Drew, and it isn’t long before they give in to their mutual attraction. But when the dark past Jessie has successfully hidden for ten years explodes in the media, their tenuous bond is put to the test, and both Jessie and Drew must learn to trust each other if they don’t want their newfound romantic relationship to go up in flames.

Excerpt from Hearts on Fire:
As if sensing she was being watched, she turned and their gazes collided across the stage. Her smile faltered as the seconds ticked by. She remained rooted to the spot, so he moved forward. One of them had to make the first move; it looked like it would be him.

“Hey,” he said as he halted in front of her.

She thanked the roadie, who smiled and left them to attend to Tara and Renee.

“Hello,” she replied, her tone formal and her eyes guarded. “Thank you for agreeing to help us out.”

“You’re welcome.” He rested his arm along the top of his favorite guitar, a Fender Strat that he’d bought when he was sixteen, after years of saving his allowance and hoarding the money he’d earned doing odd jobs around town.

Although his father had made good money and left them fairly well-off after he died, his mom always believed that he should learn the value of money. It was a lesson he’d learned well, and to this day, he hadn’t touched one dollar of the money his father had left him. He wanted to make something of himself on his own terms, not because he had connections or an inheritance.

“Wally gave me the set list yesterday. It looks like it’s pretty much the same as before,” he said, after an uncomfortable silence.

“For the most part.” Jessie tucked a strand of dark hair behind her ear. “The only difference is, I’ve changed up the order so that some of my older stuff is sprinkled throughout the set. Works better that way.”

He nodded. “So what the hell happened to Kenny? Wally said he broke his arm?”

Jessie rolled her eyes. “The damn fool decided to take a swan dive off the stage, and because he’d had a couple of fireballs before the show, he miscalculated how close the audience was to the stage and fell smack dab onto the concrete floor.”

Drew gasped, equally shocked and amused at the picture she’d painted. “Jesus. Are you serious?”

Her lips curved upwards with a ghost of a smile. It was something, even if it wasn’t the usual mega-watt smile she gave him when they used to hang out together. “It’s true. I couldn’t make something like that up. Broke his arm in two places.”

“Ouch.” He winced, thinking of the pain Kenny must have been in. “So he’ll be laid up for a while?”

“Looks like it,” she said. Then, without warning, her tone turned frosty again, and the laughter vanished from her eyes. “Well, we should get started. Do you feel comfortable with all the songs?”

“Yeah. I could do them in my sleep,” he said, then frowned. “Did that sound cocky?”

“No. Just confident.” Her unreadable eyes roamed over his face. “Wally wants us to do a duet.”

“I know.”

He’d taken a look at the sheet music and recognized the song immediately. Anybody who’d ever attended a wedding in the last twenty years would probably be aware of the hit ballad that was popular in the early ‘80s. It was a nice song, and one that would suit his and Jessie’s harmonies to a tee.

“I’m not sold on the idea, but he seems to think it’ll be good for the CMT taping.”

“Whatever you decide is fine with me.” He brushed his hair back from his eyes and held her gaze. “I miss talking to you, Jessie,” he said, unable to stop himself.

Her eyes flickered with some unknown emotion, which vanished as quickly as it came.

“We should get to work. Time’s a wastin’.” And with that, she turned her back on him, moved to the center mic near the front of the stage and never looked back.

Interview with spiritual author Ezreaonne Jackson

Today’s special guest is spiritual writer, Dr. Ezreaonne Jackson to chat with us about her new book, The Secret Mandate of Rahab.

Bio:
Retired from being a Senior Pastor and refocused to oversee her Spiritual daughter’s pastoral mandate, Dr. Ezreaonne Jackson embraces a new chapter in her life.  Her endeavors are to further her education to include Marketing and Media, serve her community, utilize life coaching skills, embark on International ministry and expand her literary expressions. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theological Studies from the Regency Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida and received an Honorary Doctorate in Ministry from Trinity Bible College in Richmond, VA.

Dr. Ezreaonne Jackson’s message is one that is precise in the strategy of developing and defining vision and purpose.

Welcome, Ezraonne. Please tell us about your current release.
The Secret Mandate of Rehab is an intimate awe-inspiring Memoir of some of the critical pivotal and crucial events that shaped young years of my life written with intentions to draw the readers into facing the secrets of despair in the own lives and walking them to the light of freedom from those traumas that have hindered them from being the great person they are intended to be. I reached into the life of a great biblical woman named Rahab of the Old Testament that was a prostitute in her generation, but through the providence of the God of Israel was instrumental in helping the Jewish nation strategize the demise of the great fortress Jericho. Her life was rewarded with becoming the ancestor of the Ancient King David and Jesus Christ was born through her bloodline.

What inspired you to write this book?
As an expositor of the gospel and public speaker I was always referring to historical persons and realized that my life was so parallel to many of the women in scripture and several great black motivators of freedom that I had come to love and appreciate. Many have been inspired by Biblical characters like Rahab, Hannah, Bathsheba, Deborah, Martha, and Mary. Heroines like Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Susan B. Anthony, Cosmonaut Ellen Baker, Civil Right Activist Rosa Parks, Condoleeszza Rice, and the plethora or women in all facets of life who are movers and shakers. I believed that I had something to contribute to the world that would cause a change to propel innovation and advancement.

Excerpt:
“My rage went underground seething in its apparent thoughts of injustice and anger regarding my relationship with my father and the lost innocence and deprivation of affection from a parent. It would visit me again after salvation.” A Fit of Rage, Chapter 7, Page 43

What exciting story are you working on next?
Church Folks. It is a true story told as a novel of the emotional roller-coaster antics of the institution church and how it has effected its aggregation over the last 30 years.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I had never considered myself a writer. Writer was required for my speaking engagements and workshops. After stubbing through my thoughts and nights of earnest study I found a place to release my message through writing. If writing found it place in academia, I knew that I could release emotional anguishes of my heart through the pen.

Do you write full-time? If so, what's your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
No, I do not write full time though the thought of writing is constantly on my mind. I am a gospel preacher, Bishop, spiritual coach and mentor.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Bringing the relevance to the reader and allowing them to express their moment of realization.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I think I thought of being a nurse but my childhood was snatch so faced I did not dream much.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
These interviews are interesting as I am realizing new entities about myself that lie dormant and have surface to open windows of opportunity for me.
